Bates Bobcat Family Suite with Bobcat Den
We are pleased to announce the grand re-opening of our family suite, formerly the McDonough Suite, now the Bates Bobcat Family Suite and Bobcat Den! We couldn't be prouder of our remodeled suite. After much anticipation and hard work, Billie's vision has come to fruition. Our Bates Bobcat Family Suite and Bobcat Den make a fun and fresh addition to our inn's unique character. The entire suite has been redone.
The Layout:
The Bates Bobcat Suite and Bobcat Den are situated in the completely private west wing of the inn, on the second floor. It is the only suite in that wing. Upon opening the door, directly in front of you will be the bathroom, complete with clawfoot tub, shower, and amenities. To the left of the bath, you'll find the main bedroom and to the right is a short hallway to the Bobcat Den. The suite is painted in Bates College colors and is dripping in college swag.
The main bedroom of the Bates Suite has a plush queen bed, flatscreen cable tv with Roku, robes, slippers, and an antique vanity. This room was completely reimagined and brought to life. Even the vanity got a decoupage makeover! The vanity is used as a writing desk and the top has been refinished with a collage of about 80 images relating to Bates College. The walls and trim were all painted in Bates College colors, garnet, white, and gray. The upholstered headboard of the new queen bed matches a tufted bench. The newly laid floor is a rich tile overlaid with a rug that really brings it all together. The blackout curtains give it a finished look that's second to none.
As you exit the main bedroom, you'll never worry about finding your way to the Bobcat Den, because there are paw prints marking the way! Billie put down the new floor herself and when it was set, she placed vinyl paw prints marking a trail to the Bobcat Den. It's adorable, but don't only look down at the floor -- get a load of the hallway walls! On one side of the hall is a large, framed campus map. You can get your bearings before your campus visit, or just take a look if you're curious about the campus layout. On the opposite wall, there are a dozen framed images forming a letter "B". These images were taken from a Bates College calendar, and show team sports, student activities and traditions, academics, dance, graduation ceremonies, and seasonal campus photos.
No need to be a good tracker, you can easily follow the pawprints to our Bobcat Den. This dorm-style living space is so much fun we can hardly contain ourselves. Arguably the piece de resistance, our Bobcat Den has a daybed with fluffy pillows to lounge and play games, watch tv, read, or hang out. At bedtime, take the pillows off the back and voila! You've got a twin bed. For ambience, the Den has LED color-changing string lights on the wall. There is a desk if you feel studious and a game console if you feel playful!
We can't wait for guests to stay in our college-themed suite! It's perfect for a family of 3 visiting Bates or other colleges in Maine, but our guests need not apply to college to gain access to our exclusive suite. All you have to do is make a reservation! Slip into a nice hot bath, throw on our guest robes and slippers, and let yourself get lost in a dorm daze.
